#22 Course Reflection

Pop Culture class taught me a lot this semester. There were so many assignments but they were really helpful too. First of all, we started with culture. Everyone has their own distinct traditions and customs; culture is a vast topic. Culture is about thinking, making, and doing, as I discovered in class. Products, behaviors, and viewpoints can all be considered reflections of a culture. In life, perspective is what matters most. Customs and customary actions within a community, such as marriage ceremonies, are called practices. Products include things like clothing, food, music, and books. People and the environment may teach us about culture, which is dynamic and ever-changing. I gained knowledge from a variety of sources and settings. We made a cultural identity poster in class that features our heritage and the distinctive features of our own culture.

Secondly, we continued with popular culture. Aspects of contemporary life such as sports, technology, fashion, music, art, and entertainment are included in this cultural realm. It is usually connected to the general public and designed to be more approachable and relatable to a wider range of people. Many elements, such as the impact of the media, advertising, consumerism, and the collective tastes and preferences of a community, form these ever-evolving phenomena. Pop culture is a crucial factor in forming modern identities and cultural manifestations, and it can vary greatly between countries and eras. The term "trailblazer" and its examples are unfamiliar to me. An individual or organization that takes the lead in a certain field, industry, or endeavor is referred to as a "trailblazer". These are the trailblazers who push the boundaries, creating new opportunities, new trends, and creative paths where none had been seen before. Trailblazers are acknowledged for their capacity to break through barriers, question accepted wisdom, and motivate others to pursue similar paths. It showed me that women could be just as strong and accomplish anything in life. It encourages parity in a variety of spheres, including the workplace and sports.

Thirdly, we learned about movies and music of the genre. Some of the genres, I never heard of it. We created a movie slide for one genre. My category is concert movies. Concert movies are basically about famous people and music. On the other hand, my music genre was punk music. I don't like punk music however, I discovered the independent music genre. I really liked it. We created a playlist about our all-time favorite, from our parent generation, lyrics that we can explain, etc.

In conclusion, this class was so helpful. We read texts, do projects, present our projects, and do homework. Even though we are from different cultures, we learned a lot about mainly American pop culture and other countries' pop culture.
